Sony has kicked off the New Year with a bang introducing the latest and greatest of their LCD products, the KDL-40Z4100 (40 inches) and the KDL-52Z4100 (52 inches). The XBR line, which is Sony's most prestigious line of LCD's, has not announced a TV set larger than 37' making the KDL line the top dog for the time being. This LCD is a great choice for those who do not want to pay a premium for the extra cosmetic work that comes with the XBR line. Both the KDL 40Z4100 and the 52Z100 offer a shiny black bezel with a silver bar at the bottom of the LCD TV and while there is nothing really amazing about how the TV is presented, it does come with an impressive array of features that is sure to please even the pickiest buyer.

Each set comes loaded with these major features:

* WCG-CCF backlight
* 120 MHz Motion flow
* 24p true cinema input
* 1080P resolution
* 4 HDMI and 2 Component inputs
* Digital media for compatibility with most Sony Walkman and iPod players.
* Advanced contrast enhancer

Clearly this is an impressive list of features that will appeal to the consumer who is looking for the best bang for their buck. While this TV is not going to win any award for its looks, it does deliver all of the features needed to provide an incredible TV viewing experience. The 10-bit 1080P LCD uses the new Sony Bravia Engine 2 to for optimum image enhancement capabilities.

This model can be compared to the Samsung 5281 and 4681 series that where released late in 2007, both with LCD backlighting capabilities. These two new Sony TVs both have the same feature but in comparison to the Samsung LCD's, they offer richer and more vibrant colors. Beyond all of the great features and excellent backlighting capabilities that this TV provides, the thing that is most impressive is the ability to produce blacker blacks. Simply put, you will be hard pressed to find another LCD out right now that will match the blacks produced by this television.

Overall, this TV is a great set filled with a plethora of features that will satisfy almost every consumer. Sony also manages to bridge the gap between LCD's and Plasma monitors a little bit more with their best LCD television produced to date.
