When you watch one of your favorite movies on this LCD flat screen you will be impressed with the black levels - which give it that ‘cinema' quality. When using a normal DVD player you might notice that there is some slight noise and mapping in the shadows and neutral colored background. However, those with an HD or Blu Ray DVD player shouldn't have any problems like this. They will be surprised by the brilliant picture that they will receive. Although we have to admit that it may be a little too brilliant. As with most LCD's the color always seems to really stick out and make things look ten times more colorful. But it isn't something a little adjusting can't fix.
The LC-46D92U is built with the anti-glare technology that many of us wish was installed in every television and it works perfectly. Even the backlighting - which can be adjusted to match the room light conditions - does a great job. The best thing you can do that will help you to get the best use out of the backlighting feature is to turn off the OPC setting. We are happy to see that this LCD comes with a bottom speaker that can detach. It is great to have if you don't own a sound system - but can easily come off when you finally do get one. To buy a good sized 46" LCD LC-46D92U is going to cost you around $3000. We don't see any reason why someone - who is looking for a quality picture wouldn't spend that kind of money. We do recommend that those who don't have an HD or Blu Ray DVD may want to buy one for this television in order to make the experience more enjoyable.
