The Samsung LE52F96BD has its good points and its bad points. The thing that we love about it is the LED SmartLighting backlight that was built into it. Samsung has created blacks on a flat screen television and brought it to a whole new level. The fact that there is no light output showing up from behind the picture you are watching is something that we are all going to love. Most of us are used to seeing the bright light show up on the screen every time the picture on the screen fades out and not having to worry about it anymore is an amazing experience. With such a great feature you can be sure that some things have been sacrificed. Because the many pixels on the screen outnumber the dimming zones, black level fluctuation and flare will take its place. Some people will not be bothered with this and will probably never notice. However those who are used to a perfectly clear picture and are paying out big money for the LE52F96BD may not be too happy. While some people choose not to buy the Samsung LE52F96BD because of the color shifts and the lack of image depth that is caused by the SmartLighting we believe that it delivers us a great quality of picture full of detail, blur-free motion, connectivity, picture control, and even great sound quality. This is definitely one of the better TV's to spend your hard earned money on.
