Earlier this year Philips opened up about their plans of putting their new Perfect Pixel technology to use in a brand new television. We have all been waiting patiently and now the wait is over. The brand new 32 inch LCD screen may not be big - but who says that bigger is better. In this case we would have to agree that size does not matter - but rather picture quality.

The new technology that they have used for the new 32PFL9632 has been called the Perfect Pixel Engine (PPE) - which is used for enhancing the fine detail levels of the television. While they have come out with other televisions with this sort of technology we have to admit that this is far better work than we have seen in the past (hence the new name). One of the main differences is the new HD Natural Motion circuit, which applies large amounts of processing power to make the picture on the screen look more fluid.

HD Natural Motion has an element that converts 24fps signals to 48Hz. This opens up the potential for them to be shown with much less video noise than if a standard 50Hz or 60Hz frame rate was being used. Another new feature that you can expect from the PPE is a 14-bit color processing, which is included to create a more natural and wider color palette, and 100Hz which is designed to lower LCD's normal problems retaining resolution over moving objects.
Besides expecting to see the crystal clear picture (thanks to the use of Philip's LCD technology) you can also expect to see the great Ambilight at work. Ambilight is the process where pools of colored light, can 'spill' from the sides of the TV. Philip's is actually an improved version of Ambilight - which uses LED instead of fluorescent lighting. This helps all of us because it lowers the amount of power it consumes and increases the effect of the ambient light.

All of this technology gives you a much clearer picture with which to enjoy your favorite action flick. The objects on the screen seem to move perfectly and with great clarity that you won't have any problems seeing anything. But even with all of this great technology we were afraid that it would have the same problem that most LCD TV's have and that is response time.

Most have an inherent response time - making it frustrating to some users. However, the 32PFL9632D seems to be the first LCD television to have overcome this problem. The only thing that hasn't improved greatly is the audio - but when you can see things twice as better than before the last thing you are thinking about is how great it's going to sound.

Investing in this new 32 inch flat LCD television is going to cost you about $1500. With all the features that have been put into this to make it such a high quality TV we are happy to see that it isn't much more than that.
