In today's economic climate, we are all looking to get the most bang for our buck especially with high-end purchases such as digital Televisions Unfortunately, you could do a lot better than the Hitachi P50X902.
Don't get me wrong. The Hitachi P50X902 has some very good points. The P50X902 has the TV Guide On Screen System that, with the press of a button on the remote, lets you bring up the familiar TV Guide, full-screen menu. The user friendly menu lets you quickly and easily check out both local and cable channels, and lets you look for your favorite programs or movies, using a number of different methods. In case you have a favorite show that you don't want to miss, the P50X902 features a reminder that lets you know that it is coming up. This system, however, only works if you use the TV's tuner. If you use only satellite or a cable box, the TV Guide System is rendered inoperable. The problems in this new set, however, are more than the good points can overcome. The picture seems somewhat fuzzy without sharply defined edges. The colors don't stand out and the contrast leaves a lot to be desired. Other models gave us the feeling of a three dimensional image, while the P50X902 felt much more two dimensional and lackluster. The menu was at best slow, making frequently used options hard to quickly use. With a nearly $3200.00 price tag, the competition has a definite advantage.
Don't let a few splashy extras fool you into spending way too much on a plasma screen TV. For the same money, go buy two plasma screen TVs and really enjoy the new technology.
