Plasma Screen Televisions

Plasma TVs are one of the most popular forms of television on the market today. However, due to the fact that they can still be quite expensive, not everyone can afford one.

For those who can't afford a plasma there is the option of getting an LCD TV instead. However the Plasma TV's are a great choice for both movie watching and game playing.

Although many hardcore gamers preach that LCD is the best for games, in truth plasmas TV’s are catching up in this department. The latest plasma TV's are ideal for games. It is the older plasmas which are not so great. Keep that in mind if you want to purchase a gaming television and had your heart set on a LCD (liquid crystal display).

Plasma TV's have a great advantage over LCD when it comes to displaying dark and black colors. They have a greater range and therefore better contrast [particularly in dark images.

LCD televisions find it difficult to display a true black color due to the backlight which shines through the LCD layer. Although this is arguable and most people won't notice, it is still something to consider.

When purchasing a large television, plasma is ideal. You will generally get better value for money when purchasing a large plasma screen vs a large LCD screen. If however you are after a small compact television then LCD is the way to go in terms of cost vs quality.

LCD is becoming cheaper everyday so if you're on a budget, by all means go LCD. You certainly won’t be disappointed! I do however prefer plasma screens over LCD. I like the deeper contrast and the fact you can get bigger screens. Plasma screens are available in 60 inch and above, however these cost a fortune. At least the option is there though!

A 50 inch plasma will cost less than a 50 inch LCD. That is the difference when purchasing such a large screen so in this scenario it just makes sense to go with a plasma screen television.
