The latest offering from the Sony stable is the BDP-S300 Blu-ray player. For the price, this is a good quality effort from Sony. There is a pleasant all round feel to the player offering very good audio and picture output sufficient to satisfy most users. The BDP is a 1.0 model so therefore you may not be able to utilise such disc features as bonus view. This is a rather basic player so therefore buyers should not expect more advanced features found on other Blu-ray units such as online capabilities or picture in picture. The player supports different types of discs as well as DVD and Blu-ray it will also play MP3, CDs or is capable of displaying JPEG files. This Blu-ray player does have good capabilities when it comes to converting movies from DVD up to 1080p. As well as an output of 24-Hz ideal when watching movies on Blu-ray rather than DVD.
Another missing feature is that there is nowhere to plug in an Ethernet cable therefore; it will not be possible to download any filmware updates that may become available. Sound quality is supported by DTS surround, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus giving highly satisfactory results. |
