Very much at the lower end of the market is the new player from Samsung the BD-P1500, has a low price tag has not degraded some quality features from this handsome new machine. It has a sleek ultra modern case with relatively large controls and a large display area on the front of the device. This is a very easy to use and basic machine but it does offer all the essentials needed for basic use. There are plenty of very varied output connections at the rear of the machine including an Ethernet Internet connector as well as the near standard HDMI socket. Although there are no analogue outputs to be seen for even 5.1, on this player. The remote is not particularly attractive and some of the controls seem oddly placed. The player is capable of outputting Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD audio for a very high-quality sound.
The player is a standard 1.1 but there is an available free firmware update that is easily downloaded after connecting to the Internet to move it up to 2.0. In this low price end of the market, most of the available players are of very low quality in terms of equipment used to build the player and a general low quality of output. This new Samsung separates itself from the low price back with very reasonable quality in return for a reasonable price. |
