The Emtec S800 HDD has a HDMI connector. It is possible to capture composite images and phono audio from external sources. Using the units Scart-to-RCA adapter the composite limitations mean HD recordings, from external media, do lose quality. Definitely not the sharpest picture around. Analogue and DTT images produce an acceptable good picture quality. One neat little feature. You can start watching any recording, from the beginning, while it's still being processed. AVI, Xvid, MPEG-4, and subtitled files are all supported by the Emtec S800 HDD.. Not AVC files. The unit can also be used as a network hard drive for both wireless and Ethernet/LAN connections. The Linux Based software is a let down, dated and cheap looking. But it is user friendly. You'll find the remote more of a challenge to navigate! Not one of the best units around. |
